Human activities are centered around food, shelter and clothing.
From cave to bubble house by Pierre Cardin is the progress one can see in these montage. Local materials , difficult terrain and visualization and execution of the same takes courage in adverse and daunting circumstances to create shelter can be seen in the Phugal Monastery/Gompa and Katambo and ingunity in finding sheter in tree hose in Dalat, Viet Nam are the examples.

Really pretty places! Thanks for putting this together. A couple things: I think “house pryor 5” is the Aescher cliff restaurant in Appenzell, Switzerland: http://www.myswitzerland.com/en/hiking-and-aescher-cliff-restaurant.html Also, it looks like one place is duplicated (“three story treehouse British Columbia” and “Legolas House”). And I think the second picture is actually a photo manipulation (from http://www.janoliehoek.com/). But they’re all gorgeous. That oceanside house with the glass roof (3rd from end) would be amazing to live in.

Photo #61 (with the lazing dogs and cat) is undoubtedly South Coast BIG SUR , California. Never been to this exact spot, but think I have overlooked the building from above, on Highway 1, years ago – always tried to find it again … but I have been in several similar abodes throughout Big Sur (from North to South coast) – it immediately screamed “BIG SUR, welcome home” …so many stylistic, artistic and architectural hallmarks inherent in the bohemian building there over some 60 + years are all evident in the structure. …would be approx. 15 to 20 miles South of Nepenthe if it is the one I over-viewed as a child.
