Trees are the oldest and the largest living things on earth. Some are weird, some extraordinary, some gorgeous, and some shaped by the human hand to fascinate and amuse. Please enjoy these images–or better yet, take a walk in the woods and greet them in person with appreciation.
As Patricia Hays suggested in the comments below, if you’re inclined, you can listen to Paul Robeson sing about trees while you meander through this post. Thanks to Tom Reiter for forwarding the link.
Thanks to: 9Wows, and Dean.
This post is a group effort. Here’s a lovely tree poem/prayer that has been going around the internet with these images. Thanks to George for forwarding it to me:
An Ancient Prayer of the Woods
I am the heat of your hearth on the cold winter nights,
the friendly shade screening you from the summer sun,
and my fruits are refreshing
droughts quenching your thirst as you journey on.
I am the beam that holds your house,
the board of your table,
the bed on which you lie,
and the timber that builds your boat.
I am the handle of your hoe,
the door of your homestead,
the wood of your cradle,
and the shell of your coffin.
I am the bread of kindness and the flower of beauty.
‘Ye who pass by, listen to my prayer: Harm me not.’
(A prayer used in Portuguese forest preservation for more than 1,000 years)

Why cant u make the annoying share, twitter and facebook icon go away??…It is really annoying…
Some people enjoy using those share buttons. We’ve re-organized them so hopefully they will be available for those who like them and won’t get in the way for those who don’t.
As the poet wrote:
“Poems were made by fools like me
But only God can make a tree.”

I can feel the serenity and love of our Creator in the infinite beauty of these trees’
Mother Nature….what beautiful children she has risen….to the heavens.
In earlier and more peaceful times my parents took me and my Brother for Sunday walks (“hikes”) through Wissahickon Park in Philadelphia and exposed us to the awesome beauty of nature.
Absolutely wonderfull kindly send more like this, people are to much into rude jokes and forget that nature keeps us alive and allows us to eat from our gardens, how blessed we are.
I can’t think of anything to say except “WOW” !!!
Simply Jaw Dropping, Mind-Blowingly Gorgeous… Makes me wonder how God thinks all this stuff up! And don’t forget… Heaven’s going to be even better!
However, this saddens me a lil as it makes me want to see ALL of them “up-close” and personal!
Thanx to the wonderful photographer!
There is a God – Creator of all these beauties!
I enjoyed these trees so much but did miss seeing the Adam and Eve tree growing in Eden State Park, Point Washington, FL. A full garden of 100 yr. old oaks with spanish moss, most beautiful gardens I have seen in a long time.
Truly gorgeous. No man could design all these beautiful trees, so God had to do it.
Awesome !
BEAUTIFUL … BEAUTIFUL …. BEAUTIFUL …..
{What more can be said! luv, Bobbi!}
No sciences can explain the existence of such creations. It’s a real manifestation of the presence of a living Super Power – GOD.
